Why is Internet Explorer not supported?

Internet Explorer does not support a wide range of features that make web development much faster and more cost effective. Internet Explorer is only used by a very small percentage of users.

What if you don't have any other choice of browser?

The main reason to use Internet Explorer is if you rely upon a web-site which will only work in Internet Explorer. Ask your IT support team to install Microsoft Edge (the default browser for the Windows operating system). Edge comes with "Internet Explorer mode" which can be used to run specific web-sites that only work in Internet Explorer.
